Now that Gary and John have put forth their agenda to fix what's wrong with the schools, the district sent out a letter that claims they have been working on the same thing. If they had the ability to do this, they would have done so already. DON'T BUY IT! This is just another example of the bureacracy that stops real change from happening. The letter is copied below:
During the last two months, you have probably read or heard in the media the details associated with a proposed budget for New York State. The fact is that Long Island, and Massapequa in particular, have once again become vulnerable to proposed losses in state aid. For your information, during the last 3 - 4 weeks, we have actively engaged in a variety of activities that were designed to assist our State legislators in supporting a higher level of state aid in Massapequa. As an outgrowth of these activities, we are once again asking you to assist us in lobbying for additional state aid.
Attached is a letter that we are asking you to read, sign and send to the Governor’s office. The next few weeks are critical as the deadline for a new State budget is April 1st. Therefore, if you choose to assist us in this matter, please mail your copy of this letter no later than Friday, March 21st. Thank you.

SLAVIN AND LYNOTT
Here's our inaugural post:
VOTE FOR SLAVIN AND LYNOTT!
Here's Why:
No other candidate offers any real solution. Here's what they've done as community leaders already:
- Led Massapequa in the drive for the FIELD OF DREAMS
- They were the founders of the Massapequa Athletic and Civic Conference
- Worked with the town on the 'turfing' of Burns Park
- Demanded for us what we deserve on the SEAFund bond...and got it, including improvements to our school facilities that the present school board would not support!
- As residents, have shown a consistent desire to improve Massapequa in ways that benefit the entire community.
As the election approaches, we will be inundated with the same old campaigns:
- LOWER TEACHERS SALARIES - Yes, this is the way to retain quality educators.
- CUT ADMINISTRATORS - We have the largest school district in Nassau County, it grows larger every year as does our budget. How can we maintain educational standards and do this?
- FIRE ADMINISTRATIVE PERSONNEL AND REPLACE THEM WITH STUDENTS (For no pay) - This may be the most ridiculous idea I've ever heard! "Hey kid...skip calculus this term and organize this outdated file system.
- CHARGE FEES FOR EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES - That's a good one...charge the overtaxed more money so their kids can learn teamwork and physical fitness values.
- FORCE TEACHERS TO VOLUNTEER FOR ATHLETICS AND ACTIVITIES - You think it's hard to get a decent coach now? The first person who proposes this had better demonstrate proof where they worked for free themselves.
I'll leave it at that for now. What do you think?
